Eric D. Goodman


Eric D. Goodman is an American writer of literary fiction, commercial fiction, childrens’ literature, and non-fiction. He has been writing since a grade-school story assignment turned him on to the craft more than a quarter century ago.

Eric is the author of Flightless Goose, a full-color, hardcover story book for children. Flightless Goose was illustrated by his wife, Nataliya A. Goodman, and published by Writer’s Lair Books. It is the story of a goose who has an accident and is no longer able to fly. The goose must learn to cope with disability, focus on stregnths, and because of his positive outlook and perseverence, he ends up saving the day. Eric’s short fiction has been published in literary magazines and journals and has been featured at public readings and on radio.

Eric is a two-time finalist in Paramount’s Chesterfield Writer’s Film Project, founded by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment. He has placed in the fiction contests of the Maryland Writers’ Association and The Baltimore Review. He won the prestigious Gold Award from the Newsletter on Newsletters. He’s also a five-time winner of National Novel Writing Month.

In 2007, Eric’s novel, TRACKS, was a semi-finalist in the First Chapters Novel Contest, dubbed “American Idol for Writers” and sponsored by Gather, Border Books, and Simon & Schuster. TRACKS beat out nearly 3,000 other novels in the contest and for months it was the most widely-read entry in the contest.
Tracks, a novel in stories, takes place on a train traveling from Baltimore to Chicago. Each chapter is a stand-alone story and nearly half of them have been published in magazines and journals. Eric has read from his fiction throughout the Baltimore area, including the Baltimore Book Festival, the Baltimore Authors Showcase, the Patterson Theater, XandO, Ukazoo, and the Watermark Gallery.

Eric is a member of The Writers’ Center, America’s premier independent literary center. He’s a member of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) as well as Baltimore’s Creative Alliance and the Maryland Writer’s Association, and he is involved with the CityLit Project and Write Here Write Now. He’s a former participant in the Jenny McKean Moore Fiction Workshop at George Washington University.
